Gravesend is the famous resting place of "Pocahontas" which attracts many visitors world wide including America from where Native tribes come to celebrate their ancestral heritage.

Charles Dickens the famous author of "A Christmas Carol" and many other books lived in the local area and was inspired to write "Great Expectations" drawing from the local riverside locations and community.

You can visit Rochester which is ten minutes from Gravesend and relish in the local history that celebrates his life and work. The Dickens Festivals are wonderful opportunities to experience the Victorian celebrations in the height of summer or Christmas fayre.
